--- 4 days ago --- 9,739 notes ---On life’s constant little limitations
Calvin: You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don’t help.
On expectations
Calvin: Everybody seeks happiness! Not me, though! That’s the difference between me and the rest of the world. Happiness isn’t good enough for me! I demand euphoria!
On why we are scared of the dark
Calvin: I think night time is dark so you can imagine your fears with less distraction.
On the unspoken truth behind the education system
Calvin: As you can see, I have memorized this utterly useless piece of information long enough to pass a test question. I now intend to forget it forever. You’ve taught me nothing except how to cynically manipulate the system. Congratulations.
On the cruel reality of commercial art
Hobbes: Van Gogh would’ve sold more than one painting if he’d put tigers in them.
On the tragedy of hipsters
Calvin: The world bores you when you’re cool.
On the tears of a clown
Calvin: Isn’t it strange that evolution would give us a sense of humour? When you think about it, it’s weird that we have a physiological response to absurdity. We laugh at nonsense. We like it. We think it’s funny. Don’t you think it’s odd that we appreciate absurdity? Why would we develop that way? How does it benefit us?
Hobbes: I suppose if we couldn’t laugh at things that don’t make sense, we couldn’t react to a lot of life.
Calvin: (after a long pause) I can’t tell if that’s funny or really scary.
On the falling of sparrows (or providence’s lack of a timetable)
Calvin: Life is full of surprises, but never when you need one.
On why winter is the cruellest of seasons
Calvin: Getting an inch of snow is like winning 10 cents in the lottery.
On the gaping hole in contemporary art’s soul
Calvin: People always make the mistake of thinking art is created for them. But really, art is a private language for sophisticates to congratulate themselves on their superiority to the rest of the world. As my artist’s statement explains, my work is utterly incomprehensible and is therefore full of deep significance.
On playing Frankenstein with words
Calvin: Verbing weirds language.
On realising God is more Woody Allen than Michael Bay
Calvin: They say the world is a stage. But obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines.
Hobbes: Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.
Calvin: We need more special effects and dance numbers.
On why ET is real
Calvin: Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.
On looking yourself in the mirror
Hobbes: So the secret to good self-esteem is to lower your expectations to the point where they’re already met?
On the future
Calvin: Trick or treat!
Adult: Where’s your costume? What are you supposed to be?
Calvin: I’m yet another resource-consuming kid in an overpopulated planet, raised to an alarming extent by Madison Avenue and Hollywood, poised with my cynical and alienated peers to take over the world when you’re old and weak. Am I scary, or what?
On the truth
Calvin: It’s a magical world, Hobbes, ol’ buddy…Let’s go exploring!

I don’t know why but these few days I’ve been feeling more alone than ever, more upset than I’ve ever been since the start of this year.
It’s really getting to me, the need and desire for me to want to disappear is just stronger than ever now
I’m so tired of trying to keep up with everything, so tired of getting my hopes crushed yet again, so tired of everyone’s falseness
All these thoughts are running through my head, maybe I should just shoot myself in the head to just get rid of all these thoughts…..
If you start talking to me everyday and night, i’m obviously gonna get attached to you. Even if I never planned to in the first place, I will. So before you start getting close to me, make sure that you won’t just suddenly leave me. Cause you know, that happens to me a lot.

I’m suffering from post-concert depression right now!!! ughhhhh!
Yesterday was such a great night, I had sooooooo much fun and all at the Bless the Fall and August Burns Red concert last night even though I went alone! HAHA i can check going to a concert alone off my list of things i wanna do now O:
I had absolutely no idea how to get to the place where the concert was held and was getting kinda worried on the train haha then I saw these two guys getting on the train and i was like “hey! they look like people who would be going for the concert” hahaha so I embarrassingly followed them out of the train and asked if they were going for the concert and if i could follow them. Boy was it awkward… hahaha I forgot their names! But they were nice people (i think) haha cauz they kinda introduced me to their other gig friends (whose names i forgot but they looked kinda intimidating and all), and they kept checking to see if I was still following them or lost somewhere in the crowd O:
It was really really awkward waiting all alone in the queue, but screw that I was so excited to see the bands later that I didn’t really care. And let me tell you, the queue was insane! People actually came up to ask me what we were queuing for, where we could get tickets, what sorta bands were playing, yada yada it was really funny actually because on one hand you couldn’t exactly tell them what bands were playing cauz they would not know them at all and they’d just give you that look haha
I found this woman who was there alone, but sadly i lost her like after BTF started playing. It was like total chaos, but OH MY GOSH so fun! I MOSHEDDDDDD hahaha really really really crazyyyyy, it was even more intense than the ADTR concert because we were now in a much smaller place haha Bless the fall was soooo good! But they looked kinda tired :C they had really really good stage presence, and Beau was just like high-fiving everyone, man I should have pushed my way all the way to the front and touch Beau ahhhhhhhh and Jared was sooooo good lookingO: He gave Eric a kiss on the cheek! AWWWWWWWW <3 they played “hey baby, here’s the song you wanted” ahhhh my favorite, totally went wild screaming the lyrics!!
I don’t really listen to ABR but after the concert, I’m certainly a fan of theirs now! I think it was the song composure, that was like the coolest part where people took out lighters to light up the place! And there was this part where we were told to dance! and DANCEEE we did!!! haha the crowd was so wild, the fans crowd-surfed to the stage and stole all the picks that the lead singer and guitarist had to tell them to put it back if not they couldn’t play! haha
I got kinda tired from all the moshing and went to the back, but haha it was just as crazy too! Everyone was sweating like mad, falling, pushing, and elbowing each other! But thats what makes concerts funnnn! Oh my gosh I can’t believe I actually fell haha but people kept pulling me up, that’s the spirit!! I even made a new friend, haha my new gig friend! Okay, maybe now I’d actually have someone to go to concerts with, it’s only fun when you get to scream and jump along with your friend! Saw a couple of familiar faces too, haha don’t know if they recognize me at all, but I swear I’ll make an effort to talk to them next time!
OHHHHH At the end, people were actually crazy enough to dismantle the drum set and take away ABR’s cymbals O:
I am still kinda aching hahaha -______-
AHHHHHH what a good night!!!!
I’m so totally not ready to go back to skwl, tests and more tests ugh just SHOOT me already!
